We have been asked many times if we give lessons. Well we finally decided to do just that. We will be offering lessons on How to Build a Rocking Chair and two dinning chair styles. The rocker is a take on the classic Sam Maloof Style but with a few of our own design elements. The two chair styles are a spindle back and a lowback.

We now live in the Zuni mountains, south of Gallup and Grants. This gorgeous area is very remote and has very little in available accommodations or amenities. Close by is the El Morro Cafe, RV park and Cabins. This is a nice little place with small town friendly people (we stayed here while looking at the area). They have several RV spaces to choose from and a few cabins with fridges and microwaves and your own private bathroom. We suggest you make your reservations early to ensure a place to stay. There is the Cimmeron Rose Bed and Breakfast on US 53 towards Grants. They have very nice looking accomodations in a relaxing atmosphere. If you want to be pampered this is the place. There is also the Inn @ Halona Bed & Breakfast that is on the Zuni Reservation towards Gallup. The Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary has dry camping (no amenities), but you can be serenaded by the wolves. And you are welcome to stay at our place if you have an rv. But you have to be ok with Sampson coming to say hi. He'd even like it if you brought along your little four legged kid for him to play with. Otherwise Grants or Gallup has several hotels to choose from and is an hour drive in either direction. Below are links for the above mentioned accomodations.

Our first chair class went pretty good. Here Scott is showing Buddy how to grind the joints on a seat. Then Buddy takes over to get a feel for it.
Here is Buddy in his chair with Sampson. A little final sanding and applying the finish is all he has to do once home. Next time Buddy will learn how to make his own rocker.
